![]() If there were any drawbacks, I’d say that the DLC could have been a little more padded in content, the way to go about getting the PS5 next gen upgrade for the game is a bit confusing, the Fort Condor minigame could use more depth, and it’s a shame that it’s only available exclusively on the PS5. You get to learn more of what’s been going in the game’s story, you get an early taste of Yuffie, further indications of the storyline shifting away from the original game, and a cool little minigame to enjoy within the same solid JRPG system that worked great from before. You make use of boards that can be customized with your own units, and each board has a set of magic that can be used. At the same time, Sonon isn’t playable but they introduced a new mechanic which allows you to execute combination attacks with Yuffie at the cost of slowing down ATB gauge build up. Ninjutsu functions as magic and you have the ability to change the element at the cost of an ATB bar. She does quick combos when you engage enemies head on and you can throw a shuriken at enemies, which will then have Yuffie casting Ninjutsu as a ranged attack. ![]() She is proficient in both melee and ranged combat, with you having the choice to transition between both at anytime. What makes this feel refreshing however is not just the focus on Yuffie Kisaragi, but how different she plays from Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, and Barret. ![]() After all, it’s simply a story expansion so the underlying systems are the same.
